Here are some training item types currently available in ITS Designer:

With all the formatting capabilities of WordPad, including graphic and object linking and embedding.

Used to simulate text-based screens, such as those found in DOS or Unix applications. Text and background colours can be changed at will.

Create your own .jpg, .bmp, .gif files with the included screen-grabber.

You can make any area of a graphic 'hot' or 'live'. Simulate a menu item, toolbar button, bubble Help text, hyperlink, etc., or create attention-grabbing labels on a graphic.

Create a textbox of any size on any graphic, into which the trainee can type text. Display any message you want for right or wrong answers, or a hint. Create a button on the graphic for the trainee to click, or designate a certain key to press. Define a customised message for any key.

Create an area on any text-based screen, into which the trainee can type text. Display any message you want for right or wrong answers, or a hint. Designate a certain key to press. Define a customised message for any key. Invaluable for simulating data entry in legacy mainframe systems. (There is no other training creation tool able to do this!)

Write your own interactive e-books with the included e-book writer and reader. They can contain hyperlinks, graphics, sound and video clips.

Examples are the corporate video, 'soft skills' training, humorous cartoon snippets. Many formats are supported.

Add speech or music or other sound effects. Many formats are supported.

Multi-choice. Use your own 'right' and 'wrong' answer messages to reinforce what the trainee has covered, or to correct misconceptions.

Make your own demonstrations with motion and accompanying sound with the included screen camera.

Incorporate a Flash movie as a training module or just for impressive effects.

ITS Playback can run PowerPoint presentations, just like any other program you care to include in the training course.

ITS can run any program as part of an ordered sequence of actions. For example, you can start a word processor, spreadsheet, even your own bespoke software applications. In fact, ITS does not need to be restricted to training courses, but can be used as a master controller of a sequence of actions, limited only by your imagination.

More training item types are planned, and we welcome suggestions from existing and prospective customers for enhancements to the Interactive Training System.

Designed for trainers by trainers, The ITS Suite, which incorporates ITS Designer, ITS Playback, ITS Manager and other ancillary applications, is part of wider advances in the PC-based approach to professional training. Traditional methods have focused on the lecture, whereby the trainer instructs, and the trainee observes. PC-based courses, aided by their multi-media formats, provide trainees with a more active and hands-on approach to training, which is based on trial and error. They are encouraged to interact with the Training Course by answering questions, typing relevant information, and clicking appropriate buttons.

Unlike traditional training courses, those run with ITS Playback are non-linear. This means that, although trainees can progress through a course in a sequential fashion, there is the scope for viewing topics as and when desired, whether it is to recap on a specific topic, or to repeat a task. Such flexibility allows the training material to be used, not only as a course of study, but also as a Help tool, to aid a practising user through a particular aspect of a task, while on the job.
